Scandinavian Culture in Medieval Poland Volume 2
Hardback Edition: 1
The occurrence of elements of Scandinavian culture in the Vistula, Oder and Warta basins is one of the most controversial research problems in Polish medieval studies. Initially, the discussion was conducted only among historians. Their attention was focused mainly on considerations on the mysterious document Dagome iudex (P. Boron in this volume), and over time also on the interpretation of written sources originating mainly from the Old Scandinavian tradition. Archaeological discoveries, the number of which was systematically increasing, meant that representatives of this scientific discipline became more and more active in the ongoing discussion.
