Rumpelstiltskin Blues
Paperback Edition: 1
In this new collection, John Adams tries on aspects of Rumpelstiltskin. The poems tell of joy and death, disappointment and celebration. More personal than his first collection, Briefcase, this book follows threads in a judicial career, childhood memories, family and friendships.
As in Johns short fiction collection the Elbow Stories, the books homeland is Aotearoa New Zealand, but these poems venture overseas as well, to the equator and the pole. From lyric songs to experimental poems, the collection follows tracks that often wind up in Rumpelstiltskin modes, some straw, some glimmers. While the artist/spinner always risks condemnation, rewards are on offer if the blues can spin to gold.
