His roots go back to the villages of Sili Savaii, Satapuala, Tufutafoe and Faleaseela. Michael Mawson is the Maclaurin Goodfellow Associate Professor of Theological and Religious Studies at the University of Auckland/ Waipapa Taumata Rau. He is a Pakeha (white) New Zealander with Scottish and English ancestry.
