Making of the WIPO Treaty on Intellectual Property Genetic Resources and Associated Traditional Knowledge

This book covers the final stages of negotiations of the WIPO GRATK Treaty adopted on 24 May 2024. The treaty is the first international legal instrument recognizing the value of genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge of Indigenous Peoples and local communities in the Intellectual Property (IP) system. This positive outcome was thanks to over 20 years of work by the IGC committee, the excellent work of chairs and vice-chairs, as well as all the 193 delegations meeting halfway to achieve this important milestone! This is the third book covering WIPO diplomatic conferences made by Anna Vuopala.
