About the Book Club
ubiq, proudly owned and operated by the Auckland University Student’s Association (AUSA), has served University of Auckland students and alumni since 1966.
We have a passion for facilitating life-long learning and are excited to be partnering with the Alumni Offices to launch the University of Auckland (UoA) Virtual Book Club.
The UoA Virtual Book Club offers the university community an online platform to discuss and engage with a range of interesting fiction and non-fiction books, is free to join and open to all UoA alumni, students, staff, and friends.

The Bird Hotel

Set in Guatemala, The Bird Hotel follows a young woman escaping the memory of tragedy as she restores and runs a hotel at the base of a volcano. Along the way, we meet an ecclectic group of characters who stay at the hotel or live close nearby - shaping the hotel’s (and main character's) second chance at life.
