Because a Woman-s Heart is Like a Needle at the Bottom of the Ocean

This is a first full book of poetry by Wellington poet Sugar Magnolia Wilson. Widely admired, Wilson co-founded the journal Sweet Mammalian and had her Pen Pal sequence (also in this book) published in a letter-press broadsheet. This book brings together two sequences (Dear Sister and Pen Pal) and those sandwich a group of individual poems. Wilson's poems are funny, gory, and rich to exuberantly over the top in metaphor, like the books title.
