Halfway to Everywhere

The giant’s wife gets a voice at last, the apple in the garden of Eden is reduced to a distraction and the wolf paints Red Riding Hood’s nails with Coral Fantasy. These are legends on repeat, fairy tales in revision and Bible stories in reverse. Halfway might be up a beanstalk, deep in a dark night, a note in a book, the current that takes you out beyond the rip. And there are plain old love poems, too, and real-life frights.

Vivienne Ullrich was once a lawyer and Family Court judge. After she retired she completed the MA in Creative Writing at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington and has since published two poetry collections: We came from Hamburg and Halfway to Everywhere.
