Description
Reviving Tongan history and historiography by way of amalgamation is fundamental to teaching and laring history at Sia'atoutai Theological College during this age of political turmoil, familiy disintegrations and the escaletd youth violence in Tonga.
The conventional view suggests that what is writtedn (graphed-documented) contains the truth of all realities. What is orally held is fragmented, out of history (prehistorty) and not important. Based on that convention, Tonga history and historiography is colonial, meaning that more foreigners are writing and documenting history of Tonga than Tongan themselves, by ancestry or nationality.
This publication addresses the problems of colonisation in historiography.
