Description
The alpine zone is usually defined as the area on a mountain between the upper limit of tree growth, the treeline, and where permanent snow begins. New Zealands alpine land includes parts of the Southern Alps in the South Island, and the central North Island. All of the images in this book were taken in the South Island, mostly between 1300-1600mts.
Rebecca Bowater grew up with a love of nature fostered by her parents her father a botanist and her mother a horticulturist. Through her passion for New Zealand alpine flowers, fungi and birds, Rebecca has received many awards, book credits and achieved Fellowship with the Photographic Society of New Zealand, for whom she is an accredited nature judge. Her great love for all nature has prompted travels to many of the worlds national parks.
