The book is a compilation of 40 traditional chants (waiata) from Ngati Whakaue, one of the tribes of the Te Arawa confederation from Rotorua and Maketu.The book follows the same format as Ta Apirana Ngata's Nga Moteatea book series.For each song an explanation is provided including significant landmarks and important ancestors as well as a break of key words from each line of the song.Included also are whakapapa or genealogical detail pertaining to the particular chant.This book is the culmination of many years of research undertaken firstly by our father, the late Rawiri Rangitauira, and then by his wife and kids upon his passing.

This book is dedicated to his memory.
