Remembering Robyn Kahukiwa | ubiq Bookshop

Today, the team at ubiq Bookshop are remembering Robyn Kahukiwa (14 September 1938 – 11 April 2025).

Robyn was an acclaimed Māori artist of Ngāti Porou, Te Aitanga-a-Hauiti, Ngāti Hau, Ngāti Konohi and Te Whānau a Ruataupare descent. Her works covered colonialism, motherhood, Māoritanga, whakapapa and championing wahine. She also collaborated on works with indigenous communities in Hawai’i, North Americas, and Australia, as well as Kiwi writers including Joy Cowley, Patricia Grace and her daughter, Rawina Kahukiwa.

Always generous and gracious throughout her many publishing projects, we at ubiq Bookshop have always felt privileged to represent Robyn’s work in the book selling world.

Ka aroha hoki to Robyn’s whanau - kua haere ia ki tōna moenga roa.
