Māori Language Week 2024 at ubiq Bookshop

Read & Learn reo Māori with ubiq Bookshop and the power of reading!

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori (September 14 - 21st) and Māori Language Day (September 14) allow us to celebrate and educate this week (and every other week) through the power of books and reading. 💪📚

The team at ubiq believe that it's so incredibly important to acknowledge and embrace all of Māoridom and our beautiful reo (language): this week in particular, but also through the year too!

We've curated a selection of texts that cover not just Reo Māori & your learning journey, but also divulge into Tikanga Māori, te ao Māori, #OwnVoices, Whakapapa and Taonga, as well as the history of Aotearoa's indigenous people and culture.

Where should I begin?

Practise your reo  Māori no matter whether you're a beginner or seasoned learner with our range of Māori Made Easy workbooks, reading tools, reference books and dictionaries

Transform your perspective on Māori history and culture with our books on Te Tiriti o Waitangi (The Treaty of Waitangi) and Tikanga Māori.

If reading time is limited, have a look at our BWB Text range - short books on big subjects.

Check out our full range here - Kia Kaha te Reo Māori, Ake Ake Ake (A Forever Language)! 🖤

Why is reading important for understanding Māori history and culture?

At ubiq, we believe that books have the ability to challenge your assumptions, broaden your horizons, and foster empathy. Reading is a powerful tool that can open your eyes to new perspectives and experiences. By delving into books that authentically explore Māori history and culture, you can gain a deeper understanding of the traditions, values, and struggles of the Māori people. Through reading, you can connect and empathise with the stories and voices that have shaped Māori identity.
