It was midwinter, and in the village, preparations were being made to greet the new year. Little sister, Ururangi, is big enough to maker her own celebration kite this year. But when the sisters take their kites to fly them, the east wind whips them up into the sky, where they appear as the stars of Matariki to welcome the Maori new year.
A creative new take on the traditional Matariki story, this will be a welcome addition to the limited Matariki resources.
