Description

The idea to this collection was inspired by Don Paterson, the Scottish poet, as the author took the challenge to express himself through the sonnet (and its numerous forms). In the introduction of 101 SONNETS: from Shakespeare to Heaney, edited by Don Paterson, he makes the observation that "The truth, these days, at least, is that the sonnet is pretty much in the eye of the beholder." So, this collection from as far back as 1969 is a playful mix of what might be 'in the eye of the beholder' many permutations with the only distinction of having 14 lines as a commonality, though the collection's title is not to be mistaken for William Shakespeare's themes in his sonnets 1-20.
