This book is a history of the people from Rotuma Island in Fiji. It covers the legendary times through the era of Colonial Protectorate. Rotuman History is viewed as a continuous struggle between political powerful groups and individuals. The struggle has taken place at every level of the Rotuman society individuals, households, villages and between Rotuma and outside world such as the Tongan invaders in the legendary times. Rotumans have always asserted their rights of self-determination and passive resistance. This is a story of a proud people people who have a keen sense of their own worth as individuals and as a cultural community.
