Ron Baker spent many years working as a Mental Health Nurse in New Zealand. He started at a time of large psychiatric hospitals and worked across a range of health services during its reforms.

Ron's career was also shaped by his Father who was in the 28th Maori Battalion, and through access to esteemed Maori Leaders with traditional knowledge of Maoridom and healing. It is from these rich sources of life and Ron's work as an experienced Maori Health Practitioner, that Te Manawa Nui is born.
