Walden Civil Disobedience and Other Writings

In addition to the texts of "Walden" and "Civil Disobedience", this revised and expanded "Norton Critical Edition" reprints the increasingly important works "Slavery in Massachusetts", "Walking" and "Wild Apples". All texts are accompanied by annotations. Selections for Thoreau's Journal from 1845-1854 provide insight into his creative process.
