This story book about Spirit Bear, is a project that grew out of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal case that focused around the experiences of 165,000 First Nations Children impacted by the child welfare case [ Jordan River Anderson ] at the Tribunal.

Spirit Bear is a member of the Carrier Sekani Tribal Council and is a "Bearrister" [ from Osgood Hall Law School] who takes a journey to Ottawa to defend the rights of children - along with lots and lots of other children, who showed up, listened and showed they cared. Together, they helped to change the world...

It is a delightful read for children of all ages. Lovely illustrations and a fantastic way to introduce the concepts of reconciliation, equity, equality and fairness to child readers.
