Two of the country's worst pest species - rabbits and possums - which strip plants, rip up pasture and predate young birds - are the subject of a new book by Lloyd Esler, a natural history enthusiast from Invercargill. Featuring an extensive number of photographs and illustrations, this fascinating book is a history of rabbits and possums in New Zealand and includes how they were first introduced to the country, how they became a problem and the many and varied methods tried to control these pests.
