Te Putake O Te Riri : Wars And Conflicts In New Zealand
Paperback Edition: 1
The book is a collection of presentations from the following speakers at that summit: - Sir Harawira Gardiner, Kelvin Day, Vicnent O'Malley, Che Wilson, Buddy Mikaere, Layne Harvey, Haare Williams, Joanna Kidman, Harawira Pearless and edited by Malcolm Mulholland.
This is the inaugural publication of this new press. The New Zealand Wars is a sensitive subject for many people but there is no reason to pretend they did not happen. It is about being brave and facing our colourful history as a nation. By understanding the past we are better able to build a solid foundation for the future and to plot a pathway forward which is both informed and inclusive.
It is important that we put the same emphasis on our own wars and conflicts as we do on wars and conflicts that occurred offshore. Commemorating wars and conflicts in Aotearoa New Zealand is about standing together as Pakeha and Maori and taking ownership of our joined history.
