The Bible was the first significant written document in the Samoan language. For two hundred years the (Samoan) language of the bible has been respected as the rule that assists on how to write our own language in terms of linguistic and educational dynamics. Yet,
the Samoan (and other Pacific) Bible is undeniably a literary production based on translation or the re-writing of a sacred ancient Book in local vernaculars. This work highlights some of the issues involved in such a complicated process. It raises awareness of the attitudes, practices, agendas and other socio-historial, cultural, linguistic and religious factors involved in the Bible-ing of the Samoan language.
